On Thursday, 22nd of January, I could finally start my trip back to home sweet home Luxembourg.
I took the ferry in Rødby, almost 4 hours too early. But thank God, they had space for me on their ferry, going in the next 10 minutes. It was sunny, but fricking cold at the ferry
I made a night stop in Hamburg and I continued the next day my 7-hours trip to Luxembourg. It was raining a lot, which made me slowing down on the high-way. I took 7 hours instead of the 6 planned. But I arrived safe and healthy.
The car is already unpacked!

Today, I had an exam in C++ / Algorithms and Data Structures.
It was the first single-presentation. So I had to present myself and could choose everything exactly how I wanted it to be. My presentation was good. I presented about 5 minutes the details about an assignment “dynamic array“.
The questions were not THAT easy, but I could answer them well. For some of them, I only needed some time to think, to get the right answer. This time, the exam was actually a real exam, and not like in Artificial Intelligence only one question.
I got a 7 (C), and I am satisfied with that. My feeling told me, that maybe I get a 10 (B), but the reason why I didn’t got a B is, that I took too long to think about question’s answers.

Today was Network Management on the schedule. In my opinion, it is the most difficult of all my exams. Because we had to learn about 200 pages (which im summarized in 34 pages). Main topic was SNMP – “Simple” Network Management Protocol.
The presentation went very good, excepting that I talked 5 minutes over time, but that was not a problem for the examinators (we were the last for that day and the last in general. The test was at 15:10). Actually, 40 minutes before the exam, we finished assembling the presentation. But as I told: It went well.
The individual oral exam was not so good. They asked me questions, where I did not really realized where they wanted to go with that. But one of the examinatiors helped me a little bit. But they were laughing and giggling when I had troubles to find an answer to a question. That was mean!
My final result is 7 (ECTS: C).

Today morning, I had my exam in Artificial Intelligence.
The presentation was more or less okay, beside the fact, that we ran a little bit over time. So I had to present my last part a little bit fast to fit in the given time window.
But the oral examination was kind of mean. I learned all the stuff and they brang one only topic. I was asked to run a Minimax-Algorithm with Alpha-Beta-pruning on a game tree on the paper. There I made a small mistake because I did not take attention about one thing. I could not answer completely some questions about our project report, because it were detailed facts about that specified algorithm.
I got a 4/12, which means in ECTS, a “D“, which means I passed.

Today, I had my first, and I think easiest exam. It the exam of the course “Linux – Networking and Security”.
It was an oral exam (here in Denmark, there are only oral exams!). First, we had to present our project in a presentation about 20 minutes. I talked too long, for approximately 10 minutes
They had to cut the last one of the team a little bit of because of run out of time.
Then, every student had an individual interrogation about the project and had to show some practical commands on our Linux server.
My interrogation went not that well, because I did not know what Xtables is. But they didn’t know either
It was just in our report as copy/paste from the Linux Manual Page of ‘iptables’. My practical part, and some practical questions, I managed very well I guess.
I passed with a 10 (of 12) in the Danish grading system. It is practically the same as a B+ or a B. I am satisfied with that result
I officially think, that I am coursed! Here in Denmark, only bad things happen to me!
Problems with my credit card, problems with different package delivery services, problems with the flight company, …
And now I also start getting troubles with my notebook!

Yesterday, I arrived with 45 minutes delay at 17:15 local time at the Copenhagen Airport. And… god, I did not remember how fricking cold it was here. And I only had my thin coat with me.
I went home by Metro and “S-Tøg” (Train), where I found displeasing news in my mailbox…

“Earthquake rattles southern Sweden, parts of Denmark”
It, what the news say. In the early morning of today, 16th December 2008 there were earthquakes in southern Sweden and parts of Denmark.
A friend told me, that they felt the earthquakes, I citate: “I woke up, because my bed was trembling“. Myself, I did not noticed any of those earthquakes. Maybe Albertslund was not affected. Or I just slept through it
Since I haven’t felt anything, I hold it for a rumor, only to make Denmark more popular

A little, but still: Today I finally could pick up my package which my parents sent me for St. Nicholas day. It should arrive the 6th of December. But they (Danish mailing system) missed to pass me a note that there arrived a package for me. They notified me the 13th, but the package already arrived the 8th of December.
Anyway, I picked up the package and everything is fine now. I got cake, marzipan, chocolate, a pullover and some stomach medicine for when I go to Mexico. This are all things, that I can use very well
Seems that this year I was a good boy
In Luxembourg, St. Nicholas day is usually more popular for children as Christmas. Because they normally get then all their presents. The same with me. But my parents kept this as a kind of a tradition. They send me every year for St. Nicholas day a package with “St. Nicholas stuff” and I am glad every year when the package comes
Today was the big day… The “intelligent” checkers game ‘Abraham’, developed by our project team (2 Polish guys, 1 Chilean guy and me) started into a checkers tournament. Our team (including Abraham) was quiet nervous…
The first surprising thing, when we entered was, that the rules changed. Instead of leetin calculate it 1 minute, we only had 15 seconds to calculate. But that was just changing one line of code.
Our program was programmed in C++, and we used a text mode presentation to display the board. We hoped, when we killed all unnecessary processes (graphical user interface, network manager, daemons, …), we would be faster. As well, we started the program with a “nice” value of -20 (highest priority).
